Randy Orton isn’t backing down after his shocking heel turn on WWE SmackDown. Instead, The Viper appears to be leaning all the way into it — and he’s now mocking Cody Rhodes publicly.
The March 13 episode of SmackDown in Phoenix, Arizona took a dramatic turn during a contract signing segment meant to build toward WrestleMania. Rhodes had just captured the Undisputed WWE Championship from Drew McIntyre the week before, setting up a massive WrestleMania main event against Orton.
At first, the segment looked respectful. Rhodes spoke about their history and friendship dating back to their time together in Legacy, and the Phoenix crowd showed strong support for both men. Rhodes signed the contract and extended a handshake. That’s when everything changed.
Orton shook Rhodes’ hand before suddenly snapping. The Viper slammed Rhodes into the table, ripped off his shirt, and launched a brutal assault that spilled out of the ring. The attack escalated when Orton picked up the steel ring steps and smashed Rhodes with them, leaving the Undisputed WWE Champion busted open and bleeding heavily in front of the Phoenix crowd.
Now Orton has taken things even further. On March 16, Orton took to X and changed his profile picture while posting a simple caption.
“#NewProfilePic”
The image itself is what really grabbed attention. In the photo, Orton is sitting with the WWE Championship in his hands while wearing a shirt that reads “RKO Cody.” The message is clear — Orton is openly mocking Rhodes just days after delivering the vicious beatdown on SmackDown.
By making that image his public profile picture, Orton appears to be sending a message ahead of WrestleMania that the attack wasn’t just personal — it was intentional. The two former allies are now set to collide on the biggest stage in WWE, and if Orton’s latest move is any indication, he’s fully embracing his darker side heading into the match.
