The March 20 episode of WWE SmackDown went down at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. This week carried on The Viper’s storyline into WrestleMania.
Randy Orton has been in rare form after his heel turn. This week on SmackDown, Cody Rhodes missed the show, but his buddy was there to step in his place.
Orton opened up the second hour of SmackDown this week. He wore that new blood-covered RKO Everybody t-shirt, but he didn’t have any sort of smile on his face as fans sang his song.
Randy Orton sat in the middle of the ring in a chair as he spoke about how fans have treated him for years, cheering for his song every time it plays. He tried to return love, but things changed as his empty smile faded.
He wants his legacy to be how much championship gold he’s held in his career. Randy Orton said that he knew he could beat Drew McIntyre for the title, but then Cody Rhodes won the title. He didn’t know if he had what he took to beat Rhodes for the title like he needed to, but then Cody told Orton that he wanted him to be the best version of himself for their match, so he became the Apex Predator and listened to the voices in his head once again.
Randy Orton said he needs that killer instinct to add the 15th championship title to his legacy. After quoting the lyrics in his own theme song, he said that the voices in his head tell him he will beat Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania.
