Randy Orton isn’t saying much after the chaos on SmackDown — but what he did say speaks volumes.

In his first public remarks since Pat McAfee was revealed as his mystery ally, Orton took to social media on April 4, 2026 with a short message that made it clear where he stands following the brutal attack on Cody Rhodes. Along with a photo showing himself standing beside McAfee inside the ring, Orton kept his words simple and direct.

“For the business. @PatMcAfeeShow”

That short message came less than 24 hours after the shocking opening segment on the April 3 episode of SmackDown, where Orton finally revealed McAfee as the person he had been speaking to on the phone for weeks.

The segment took place in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis, where he addressed the crowd about his plans heading into WrestleMania 42 and his goal of taking the Undisputed WWE Championship from Cody Rhodes. Rhodes soon made his way to the ring, and the two wasted no time throwing punches.

Just as the fight broke down, McAfee appeared from behind and delivered a low blow to Rhodes, officially revealing himself as Orton’s mystery ally. With Rhodes stunned, Orton grabbed a steel chair and unloaded on him with multiple shots while McAfee stood at his side.

After the attack, McAfee made it clear that he had been pushing Orton to return to a more ruthless mindset, aligning himself with Orton as their alliance took shape heading into WrestleMania 42. The two then walked backstage together, leaving Rhodes laid out in the ring.

Orton’s social media message now adds another layer to the situation. By saying it was done “for the business,” Orton appears to be leaning fully into the alliance and the chaos it created, signaling that this partnership with McAfee is far from a one-night moment.

With WrestleMania 42 getting closer, Orton’s actions — and now his words — suggest that this rivalry with Cody Rhodes is only going to get more intense from here.

What do you think Randy Orton meant by saying it was “for the business,” and do you think his alliance with Pat McAfee will help or hurt the WrestleMania 42 storyline? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
