Triple H might’ve said R-Truth was never actually fired from WWE—but Truth’s got a very different take.
On WWE Unreal, Triple H claimed that R-Truth’s contract didn’t lapse during a stalled negotiation and that Truth was never formally released. But in a new interview on The Breakfast Club, R-Truth pushed back on that version of events—sharing how blindsided and emotionally wrecked he felt by the call. According to Triple H, the goal was to push for a new deal:
“We’re not going to renew… hopefully, maybe, this will force his hand to say ‘well, hold on a second, can we talk?’”
But R-Truth says he wasn’t even part of those discussions—his agent was handling it all—and the call he got told a completely different story.
“I had my agent working on this end with their agent. I was staying out of it. I got a call from this side saying, ‘We’re not going to renew your contract.’ So I asked, ‘Do I come to work next Sunday when my contract ends?’ They said, ‘No, don’t come to work.’ So I said, ‘Am I done now?’ And they said, ‘Yes.’”
He never got a flight, never got a schedule, and the message was clear, “There was no flight. No calendar. What do you call that?” When Triple H later said R-Truth wasn’t actually let go, Truth explained:
“That’s why I said my agent and their people were talking. I stayed out of that. But I got the call from this person that said ‘Boom.’ I wasn’t even in the dialogue… This was my first time having an agent handle my business. I’ve always done it myself.”
So how did he process it? “So to me—it felt like a firing.” He wasn’t angry—but he was lost. The confusion hit hard:
“Never once did I feel bitter, jaded, or angry. I was just at a loss—for feelings, for words, for emotion.”
And while WWE’s official stance may be that Truth was never released, his personal experience tells another story entirely—one that left him emotionally gutted and uncertain about what came next.
