R-Truth isn’t just defying age in WWE—he’s flat-out ignoring it. The 53-year-old Superstar opened up during his interview on No Holds Barred with the Toronto Sun, explaining how he continues to perform at a high level while most of his peers from the Attitude Era are long retired.

Near the end of the interview, host Rob Wong asked Truth what’s kept him in the game so long—both physically and mentally. The WWE fan favorite didn’t hesitate to answer, starting with a joke about a viral meme that declared he was somehow only 23 years old.

“I just saw something—a report the other day, you can quote me on this—that said if you was born in 1978 and prior… yeah, I saw this yesterday. They said yesterday was my birthday and I was 23 years old. Now, I’m not the scientist or claim to be an Einstein, but that’s what the report said.”

After the laughter, Truth shifted gears and got serious. He credited decades of discipline and a commitment to constant movement—even if he’s not lifting weights, he’s doing something to stay active.

“My longevity for me is being real, man. Sticking to discipline. I do the same workout that I’ve been doing since high school. I’ve changed a lot. I’ve evolved. I’ve adapted. I don’t eat like I used to eat. I have a discipline factor where I work out, man. If I don’t work out, I’m stretching. If I’m not, I’m doing cardio. I’m doing something—movement. We got to keep movement going on.”

Truth also opened up about the emotional toll aging can bring—and why he believes mental clarity is just as important as physical health.

“A lot of things we can’t change. We’re not going to change. We have to adapt, evolve, and learn. A lot of people hate the rain when the storm comes. I just learn how to walk and survive through the storm. You know what I’m saying? That helps you with aging. You’re not holding so much stuff in.”

Then he dropped the kind of life advice that only someone who’s truly lived can deliver:

“Man, I think if a lot of people let go of a lot of—excuse me, cuss—but they let go a lot of stuff, you’ll be able to bring in more good stuff, more positive stuff. I promise you that’ll help you age slower because you’re less uptight. You’re less worried. You’re less everything. And you’re more positive. Now you got clarity. Now you can go and do and be and become.”

R-Truth continues to be one of the most beloved and consistent performers in WWE history—not just because of his comedic timing, but because of his unmatched longevity. At 53, he’s showing no signs of slowing down, and if he has anything to say about it, the best may still be ahead.
