Ron Killings, better known to WWE fans as R-Truth, has never been afraid to surprise the wrestling world — but this move caught even those backstage off guard.

Less than a week after announcing that he had been released from WWE, Truth made a shocking return at Money in the Bank. Then, on the following night’s Monday Night Raw, he pulled off another jaw-dropper by cutting off his signature dreads live on television.

Speaking on Ringer Wrestling, Truth revealed that no one in WWE saw it coming except Triple H, who was the only person he told ahead of time. He explained that the decision was deeply personal and symbolic, representing growth, change, and self-belief.

“Nobody knew about it except, I asked Triple H that day. He did a double take, ‘What did you say?’ It’s business. That was my trademark. Life is all about, we live, we learn, we evolve and adapt. ‘That’s your trademark. Why do you want to do it?’ I said, ‘It’s time.’ We don’t have nothing but time for time. We have to make time for time. I said, ‘It’s time. Can I do it tonight. I want to do it on TV.’ ‘Why?’ ‘I feel I need to do it.’”

Truth recalled that even those around him in the moment didn’t believe he was serious, including WWE producer DeMario, who was told to get him scissors without knowing why.

“DeMario, he was like, ‘Bro, they just told me to get you some scissors, what are you doing?’ The look he gave me. He didn’t believe I was going to do it. When I did it, when I knew I was going to do it, that ain’t where my powers are. I saw somebody post, ‘He lost his powers.’ That’s bullshit. My essence is being me. They fell in love with me, not this hair. This is me. This hair is just to let y’all know, ‘I don’t need that. That doesn’t represent who I am.’ It gave you a visual of who I look like, but they fell in love with me. It was me proving myself. ‘I don’t need this. I just need y’all and I’m back because of y’all.’ We’re fitting to reinvent, adapt, and drive.”

Truth’s decision may have been about cutting hair, but the message behind it was about cutting ties with anything that holds him back — a public declaration that he’s ready for the next chapter of his career.
