R-Truth went full Cena mode at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event—but the real John Cena made sure the tribute didn’t end in a win.

The May 24 show from Tampa’s Yuengling Center saw Truth challenge Cena for the Undisputed WWE World Championship, and he made quite the entrance. Truth came out to John Cena’s own music, decked out like the 17-time world champion himself, channeling the same energy that’s made Cena a polarizing figure during his retirement tour.

But the fun didn’t last long. As Truth made his entrance, Cena jumped him from behind, blindsiding him before the bell. The heel move got plenty of boos, but it set the tone for what turned out to be a gritty, dramatic title bout.

Truth somehow fired back during the match, running through Cena’s five moves of doom and even landing an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall that had the crowd losing it. Then came the STF—Truth locked it in tight, nearly submitting the champ in what could’ve been a career-changing moment.

Cena escaped, and things took a darker turn. The champ grabbed his title, hesitated, and then offered a handshake to Truth. As the referee turned away to place the belt outside the ring, Cena showed his true colors—nailing Truth with a low blow, then hitting an AA for the win.

Cena’s heel run during his retirement tour is getting nastier by the week, and Truth just became the latest example of that. Fans were clearly rooting for the longtime fan favorite, but Cena played it dirty once again.
