Chris Jericho’s time with AEW might be ending soon, especially with rumors of his WWE return running rampant online. While speculation continues, Mark Henry has now pushed for Jericho to join WWE Creative.
While speaking on Inside the Ring, Mark Henry talked about Chris Jericho returning to WWE. Henry stated that Chris Jericho should hold a major role in WWE’s creative department.
Henry praised Jericho as one of the most versatile and innovative wrestlers of the past two decades, noting how many times he has reinvented himself and built success along the way.
“Chris Jericho should be high up in WWE Creative. He is probably the most versatile, innovative guy that has wrestled in the last 20 years. Wow. He’s recreated himself so many times and made so much money that it’s ridiculous.”
According to Henry, people value and respect Chris Jericho. He said that Jericho’s mindset, questions and ability to dissect storylines could make him a perfect fit in WWE’s writing room. Instead of acting like a tyrant, Jericho would challenge ideas and help shape better outcomes, making stories better for everyone involved.
“People respect him and they value his opinion. Chris could walk into the WWE writer room and fit right in because he’s not a tyrant. He’s gonna ask you the question, ‘Well, why would he do that?’ and then say, ‘Well, I think that he can do this and still get away with this.’ Chris will dissect stuff and make stuff great.”
The World’s Strongest Man also made it clear that Jericho has spent his career improving others, not just himself. With so many young wrestlers being called up to the main roster, Henry argued that WWE needs experienced minds behind the scenes, and Jericho could elevate the company’s future talent.
“That’s what he’s done his whole career, not just for himself but for others. And if you can get Chris in the office, do it in a heartbeat. Pay the man whatever you want. He’s going to elevate the talent. They have all these young people coming up. You see every now and then, ‘Oh, this person got moved up to the SmackDown roster,’ or ‘this person,’ and you’re going to need other brain trust. You have to have it.”
Henry described Chris Jericho as a “squeaky wheel,” someone who speaks up and pushes for better ideas. According to Henry, WWE should want someone like that.
“Always get the guy that’s kind of the squeaky wheel — and Chris is the squeaky wheel. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, baby.”
This comes after Tony Khan recently stated that Jericho is still part of AEW, even though he’s been away for a while. Khan didn’t say when or if Jericho will come back, but he said Jericho is welcome to return whenever he’s ready.
“I love Chris both personally and professionally. I recently reached out to wish him a happy birthday. I’m very excited about everything he’s done in AEW, and he continues to be part of us. Is he going to be back? I can’t speak to that, but I love having Chris in AEW, and the door is always open for him.”
If Chris Jericho does go back to WWE, he could do more than wrestle. With his long career, constant reinvention and talent for helping others succeed, working in WWE’s creative team might actually become the most important role of his career.
Should Chris Jericho wrestle again if he returns to WWE, or would he be more valuable backstage shaping the future of the business? Sound off in the comments.
