Steve Maclin isn’t looking for just any WWE crossover—he’s calling for two of the company’s biggest names to step back into the TNA ring. While speaking on WrestleBinge, Maclin made it clear that he wants to face Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles—and he’s hoping the WWE-TNA partnership can make that happen.
When asked if there was anyone from WWE or NXT he wanted to face, Maclin skipped the usual NXT buzz and aimed higher.
“There’s a lot of talent there, and not so much in NXT, but there’s a lot of former TNA talent that I would love to mix it up with that are on Raw and SmackDown—like a Drew McIntyre, and AJ Styles would be somebody I would love to cross that line and see back in a TNA ring.”
Kevin Killam acknowledged that fans instantly began fantasy-booking AJ Styles the moment the WWE-TNA collaboration was announced.
“I think the whole world would love to see that. I think there’s a lot of people that want that. The AJ Styles one—that was the one immediately, when we heard about this official collaboration, everyone’s like ‘AJ Styles!’ Like, it was the immediate impulse fantasy booking.”
He even compared the idea of AJ Styles returning to TNA to one of wrestling’s most legendary dream matches.
“It’s kind of like the Undertaker–Sting match. You always wanted that match… it’s one of those moments where if you don’t get it, you always just think of the what-if.”
While Trick Williams, NXT, and others are already part of WWE’s crossover presence, Maclin has his eyes on the main roster—specifically the veterans with TNA history who could give the current landscape a true big-match feel.
