The May 2nd episode of Friday Night SmackDown will continue to build towards next week’s Backlash Premium Live Event. However, it appears that a big name will be missing this week’s SmackDown.

According to a report by PWInsider Elite, Drew McIntyre is not backstage at tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown and will not be appearing on the show. Therefore, fans shouldn’t expect him there in any capacity.

This comes after Drew McIntyre was involved in a solid angle with LA Knight, Jacob Fatu and Damian Priest on the April 25th edition of Friday Night SmackDown, as fans felt the Scottish Warrior was going to be involved in the United States Title picture.

Reports have also noted that the Scottish Warrior is expected to receive a push into the World Title scene eventually, but there is no indication of that happening at this point in time.

It is not known why Drew McIntyre will not be appearing on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, but fans are hoping he will still be involved at the Backlash Premium Live Event next week, as they want to see him involved in something meaningful.
