Priscilla Kelly didn’t hold back while reflecting on the emotional toll her time in WWE NXT took on her.
During a recent interview on Ringiders, the former Gigi Dolin revealed how her final year in Toxic Attraction became one of the darkest periods of her life, both mentally and physically.
As her role with the group started to stall creatively, Kelly admitted that her internal struggles started to take over. She found herself spiraling into a state where motivation and self-care completely faded.
“Somewhere toward that last year of being with Toxic Attraction, I went through like a really bad depression—um, for various reasons behind the scenes—but I went through a really bad mental state where, like, I wasn’t myself anymore. I didn’t feel like myself. I felt lost. I felt very stagnant. And, you know, I put on weight, and I stopped caring about how I looked in the ring because I was so depressed.”
She made it clear that her feelings weren’t tied to a lack of appreciation for the opportunity—she was grateful—but mental health doesn’t always listen to logic.
“It’s not that I wasn’t grateful to be there. But you—you can’t help how you’re feeling inside, whether you’re grateful to be somewhere or not. You can’t help how you feel.”
Her emotional and physical exhaustion began to show through every part of her presentation.
“It showed in my work. It showed in my body. It showed in my mannerisms and everything. And I lost a big part of myself during that chunk of time.”
After Toxic Attraction ended, she shifted back into singles competition hoping for a creative resurgence, but instead found herself stuck in a cycle of brief pushes and setbacks.
“It was very stop-start, stop-start. I felt like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna do something cool,’ and then it would just fizzle out.”
Still, Kelly didn’t shy away from accountability—she admitted that she might not have been in the best place to perform at her highest level, even though she was trying.
“Part of that could have been because I wasn’t in the best place mentally and I maybe wasn’t giving my best performances at that time. And I do take accountability for that. But it didn’t help my state of mind to be given the ball and then have it taken away, and given the ball and taken it away.”
Priscilla Kelly’s honesty sheds new light on the emotional challenges that can come with WWE’s constant pressure, unstable booking, and backstage expectations. Her time in NXT wasn’t without value—but it came at a personal cost that fans never got to see onscreen.
