Priscilla Kelly Expected WWE Main Roster Call-Up Just Before Release

Priscilla Kelly was released by WWE back in May and now Kelly revealed that she thought she would get a main roster call-up just before her release.

While speaking on the Rulebreakers podcast, Priscilla Kelly opened up about how she felt certain she was about to be called up to the WWE main roster shortly before she was released.

Kelly explained that she and Tatum Paxley were competing in title matches and appearing on both Raw and TNA, which made her feel like her promotion was right around the corner. She described it as the happiest she had ever been in her career.

However, just a week or two after WrestleMania 41 weekend, she was told her contract was being canceled. Kelly said she never got a clear reason for the decision. Even though she had close relationships with several coaches at the WWE Performance Center, none of them could provide answers.

Kelly believes the decision likely came from higher up in the company, and some people at NXT were genuinely upset by what happened.

“Towards the end, they had me and Tatum, we were having title matches and making appearances on Raw and TNA at the same time. I was like, ‘I’m getting called up. This is it. This feels right. I’m happy doing this. This is awesome.’ I was the happiest I had ever been. Then, out of the blue, a week or two after Mania week, ‘we’re canceling your contract.’

I didn’t get an answer. I was very close with some of the coaches at the Performance Center. Some of them reached out to me and I was like, ‘I want somebody to tell me what it was so I can learn from it and make adjustments, so this doesn’t happen, or I can grow.’ Nobody had an answer for me. A lot of times, I don’t think the people down at NXT know. I think it’s a higher up thing. Some of the people I was close with at NXT were pretty devastated about it.”

Since her WWE release, Priscilla Kelly has been keeping herself busy on the independent circuit, and despite one mishap, things have been going very well for her already. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see if Kelly will be able to show WWE they made a mistake by releasing her.
