Priscilla Kelly has now revealed that she fell into depression during her time in WWE and explained why that was the case.
While speaking on the Rulebreakers podcast, Priscilla Kelly revealed that her time in NXT was very difficult. She shared that she went through a serious period of depression while working there.
It wasn’t caused by one specific thing, but rather the change from having full creative freedom on the independent scene to being in a more controlled environment with WWE.
Adjusting to a strict 9-to-5 schedule and being told what she could and couldn’t do creatively was a major change for Kelly. Along with other personal challenges, this led her to feel lost and unsure of herself during that time.
“My time in NXT was very rocky. I’ve never talked about this, but I went through a really, really bad depression phase working there. And it wasn’t particularly because of anything specific — it’s just that I was such a creative person on the indies, and when I went to WWE, it was a whole new thing for me to work that 9-to-5 heavy workload schedule and kind of be told what I could and couldn’t do a lot. And there was some other stuff too, but I went through a really bad depression. I kind of lost who I was. I wasn’t sure of myself anymore.”
Priscilla Kelly was released by WWE back in May and just before her release, she genuinely expected a main roster call up but it never happened. Regardless, we’ll have to see what the future holds for Kelly but it’s clear her time in WWE didn’t exactly turn out the way she would have liked.
