WWE has snagged a few big names that used to be on Tony Khan’s roster. Now, it appears that Powerhouse Hobbs has joined that list. He has a new reported WWE name, and now it’s only a matter of time before we see him in the company.

WWE’s road to the 2026 Royal Rumble might be adding a major new wildcard. On his Grillin JR podcast, Jim Ross weighed in on the buzz around Powerhouse Hobbs potentially debuting with WWE at the Royal Rumble PLE, and he didn’t sound like someone guessing. It seems that Jim Ross expects Powerhouse Hobbs’ arrival in WWE.

Jim Ross made it clear that, if Powerhouse Hobbs really has signed with WWE this close to such a huge event, it would be strange not to use him immediately.

“He’ll be in the Royal Rumble, I’m thinking. Why in the hell would you sign a guy this close to that major event and then not utilize him? That’ll be a new face, and he looks great. He called me a day or two ago thanking me for my help over the years.”

That kind of debut would make perfect sense. The Royal Rumble has become WWE’s best stage for surprises, whether it’s a returning legend, a debuting star, or someone jumping promotions. A strong Rumble showing can instantly establish a new threat without the company even needing to over-explain who they are.

“I said, ‘Well, my phone number isn’t going to change, big fella. So if you need me for something — need a little motivation, need a question answered, or just want to shoot the sh*t — I’m your man. I want to help you if I can.'”

Nothing has been confirmed publicly yet, but the timing is what makes it feel real. If WWE really did sign Powerhouse Hobbs right before its biggest surprise-heavy match of the year, the Royal Rumble would be the obvious place to roll him out and make a statement. The entire WrestleMania season, and the reset before Backlash after that, also provide excellent opportunities to bring on new talent.

Only time will tell if we see Powerhouse Hobbs in Saudi Arabia, but it certainly seems like excellent timing for him to join WWE’s on-screen storylines eventually.
