WWE may have just revealed the direction for a major Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania 42, and the tease came during AAA Rey De Reyes as El Hijo del Vikingo was pushed toward challenging Penta.

Penta has been building momentum as WWE Intercontinental Champion after defeating Dominik Mysterio to win the title earlier this month on WWE Raw. Since capturing the gold, he has successfully defended it against El Grande Americano and Dragon Lee, strengthening his hold on the championship heading into WrestleMania season.

During night two of AAA Rey De Reyes, attention shifted backstage to El Ojo, the faction made up of El Hijo del Vikingo, Dorian Roldan, and Omos. Vikingo was still upset after Mini Vikingo cost him the AAA Mega Championship against Dominik Mysterio the previous week, but Roldan quickly stepped in to redirect his focus. Rather than allowing Vikingo to remain frustrated, Roldan told him it was time to stop thinking about the loss and start focusing on bigger goals.

“‘Mini Vikingo, Mini Vikingo’ – let it go. This isn’t your style. You’re destined to do bigger things.”

Roldan then painted a clear picture that directly referenced WrestleMania weekend and the possibility of championship gold.

“Imagine this… WrestleMania weekend, ok? Intercontinental Champion.”

He continued motivating Vikingo, reminding him of his reputation and potential while pushing the idea that the time to step up is now.

“You are El Hijo Del Vikingo, understand that. You were born to do big things. You were born to be the greatest luchador in Mexico. We cannot be wasting time.”

Roldan made it clear that Vikingo has a major opportunity directly in front of him — one that involves challenging Penta. He closed his message by encouraging Vikingo to trust both himself and the El Ojo faction moving forward.

“Today, you have the biggest opportunity to go out there and challenge Penta.”

“I have trust in you. Trust that we will do big things. Trust in El Ojo.”

The segment has already led to the announcement that Vikingo will confront Penta during the next AAA Rey De Reyes show, which was taped as part of the same three-week series. That confrontation could serve as the first step toward a title match between the two.
