WWE has a ton of things on their schedule that will get fans excited. This Saturday is a very important match, but the company’s pre-planning on the production side of things may have already spoiled it.

CM Punk is set to face Jey Uso for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Salt Lake City. The match was booked after Seth Rollins was forced to relinquish the title due to injury. Punk had already earned his title opportunity by winning a number one contender’s match, while Jey Uso secured his spot by winning a battle royal. Even though there are many opinions about this match, we might know how this one will end.

With the championship on the line, many see Punk as the favorite heading into the match. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE recently filmed promotional content for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. It just so happens that Punk was prominently featured alongside key figures like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, and Cody Rhodes.

"The WWE filmed promotional material this past week for Rumble and Mania at a card table and you can see who they are promoting as the top guys in the center, as it as Paul Levesque and Paul Heyman. The other four key players were Reigns, Lesnar, Rhodes and Punk, which would immediately make Punk the favorite on Saturday to take the world title, as he was no doubt put in the spot Rollins would have been in (or they would have had both since Punk is a real marquee star)."

The placement of CM Punk in that group suggests he is being positioned in a major role heading into WWE’s next big events. Only time will tell if that means he will be holding the World Heavyweight Championship, but it certainly gives a lot of weight to that idea.

We will keep a close eye on this story for any updates. CM Punk has a big match ahead of him, and that may have caused WWE to spoil their plans a bit. If he gets another run with the World Heavyweight Championship, it may be longer than his reign at SummerSlam.

As a reminder, Ringside News will have live play-by-play coverage of the event.
