WWE Evolution 2 is starting to come together—and one of the biggest women’s matches possible may already be in the works.
According to Cory Hayes of Bodyslam.net, there have been active discussions within WWE creative for Rhea Ripley to face IYO SKY at the all-women’s premium live event later this year. While not locked in yet, all signs point to that being the direction for the Women’s World Championship.
Hayes explained the situation in his latest report, noting that it’s not completely closed, but the direction seems to be that.
The possible Ripley vs SKY showdown would instantly raise the stakes for Evolution 2, which has already been heating up following recent news. WWE is bringing a Battle Royal to the event, with the winner earning a spot on Clash in Paris. That update also came from Hayes, who shared on Twitter that “#WWEEvolution is set to feature a Battle Royal. The winner heads to Clash in Paris.”
These moves come as WWE works overtime to rebuild the women’s division after Liv Morgan’s injury threw the entire summer schedule off track. Morgan, who suffered a dislocated shoulder on the June 16 episode of RAW, was central to several major storylines—including the Women’s Tag Team Title picture.
With Morgan out, Roxanne Perez is stepping in to team with Raquel Rodriguez. The two are expected to defend the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Evolution 2 in a Triple Threat Match. The other two teams have yet to be revealed.
