Kota Ibushi just gave fans the best kind of surprise—he’s healing faster than anyone expected.

Two months after suffering a devastating femur injury during AEW Collision that left him in a wheelchair and forced him to relearn how to walk, the Golden Star has shared a major update on Instagram—and it’s full of hope.

Ibushi, who had dropped over 27 pounds and was told by doctors that it could take up to two years to return to the ring, now says that timeline is looking way too conservative. In fact, he’s already pushing through rehab and showing signs of a serious comeback.

“I suffered a serious injury. The doctor told me that it would take about two years for me to return to competition. It’s been about two months since I was injured. However, it seems that I don’t need that.”

The update came alongside a video of Ibushi working out his legs with kettlebells—clear proof that he’s regaining strength much quicker than expected. Still, the road ahead is tough, and Ibushi made it clear he’s not skipping any steps.

“But that doesn’t mean I’ll take any easy steps. This time, I really want to step into the wrestling ring. So please give me a little more time.”

Back in October, Dave Meltzer reported that Ibushi’s injury left him in such bad shape that his legs had atrophied and he’d need to relearn how to walk, run, and jump from scratch. Now, just weeks later, Ibushi’s fighting spirit is already rewriting that grim outlook.

The Golden Star still has a long journey ahead—but judging by this latest progress, Kota Ibushi isn’t done yet. Not even close.
