AEW fans are quick to defend the company at every turn, and they are also known to see social media as a battlefield at times. Now we have another instance of pro wrestling fans taking things too far.

Some fans of free speech really didn’t appreciate the fact that the AEW Botches account was targeted, and they spoke out in protest. A short time later, another account popped up, ran by the same person as AEW Botches, but they didn’t stick around long.

This new AEW Botches account posted on X to announce that they are quitting. AEW fans have tracked the owner of this account down, sent him doxxing photos of his family, and also hit him with addresses. That was enough to make AEW Botches step away.

I have received an email with our family photo, residential address & my kid’s school address with the subject line “stop criticizing AEW”. Well, I quit!

However, please save this tweet and remember #aewbotches when the inevitable happens inside the ring.

Thank You all

While some fans might be high-fiving each other over this, they shouldn’t be. Attacking someone online and sending them threats over a television show is not okay. Sadly, this resulted in the pro wrestling community losing an account that many fans followed.

O’Shea Jackson Jr also received hate online because of this, but it didn’t quit X over the controversy. He simply dropped tweet to chastise those trolls who want to defame him and his legendary NWA member father because of Tony Khan’s pro wrestling company.

We will keep our eyes on this story here at Ringside News. There could be a lot to unpack before everything is said and done. In the meantime, AEW fans will probably enjoy the lack of criticism their favorite company is receiving in the process.

What’s your take on this situation with AEW fans? Are they taking things too far? Why would they act like this over a pro wrestling show? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you think!
