A phishing scam targeting wrestling personalities is still making the rounds on social media, but despite some outlets treating it like brand-new information, Ringside News has been keeping tabs on this issue for months.
The scam usually shows up as a direct message from someone you follow. It asks you to vote for a podcast contest and includes a link that looks official. In reality, the account sending the message has already been hacked, and the link is designed to steal login information.
While several websites are now reporting on this as if it just started, Ringside News can confirm this has been happening since January 2026. The outlet has spoken with multiple wrestling personalities who were targeted during earlier waves of the same scam.
Most of the affected talents were eventually able to regain control of their accounts, but it wasn’t easy. In several cases, recovering Twitter/X accounts took repeated attempts and a lot of time working through support channels.
The way the scam spreads is simple. Once someone enters their login details into the fake page, the hackers take control of the account and immediately start sending the same message to everyone in that person’s direct messages.
Even though this scam isn’t new, it’s still spreading fast, and the biggest risk comes from trusting messages that appear to come from people you know.
Have you received one of these phishing messages lately, or do you know someone in the wrestling community who has been affected? Let us know in the comments so others can stay aware.
