AJ Styles’ in-ring WWE career may be over—but it’s Peter Rosenberg’s post-show comments that have social media melting down.

The ESPN personality and WWE Kickoff Show regular stirred fans up when he casually revealed on the Royal Rumble post-show that AJ Styles told him he’s done wrestling. That remark instantly fueled online debate, with some accusing Rosenberg of making the moment about himself or spoiling what should have been left to AJ to confirm.

On February 1, Rosenberg clapped back with a fiery video on X, defending his comments and blasting critics who came after him:

“Got off the plane and I see a lot of chatter on the Internet about the fact that on the post show I said I spoke to AJ Styles and his in-ring career is over. I don't know why this gets people angry. Besides the fact that y’all just hate on me for everything I say and do.”

Rosenberg didn’t back down from his claim that the former WWE Champion personally told him he was finished. But he insisted it was a private exchange and that he chose not to reveal everything:

“I try to give real information on the post show. I wasn't going to say every word AJ told me because it was a private conversation. But I can tell you what the theme was. He is done.”

For those suggesting he was trying to “bury” Styles or cause drama, Rosenberg made it clear that wasn’t the case:

“I've been saying for weeks I hoped the plan was that if he lost, he goes to TNA and we see more of AJ Styles. All I can report is what he told me—that he's done. Now if he's working me, fantastic. I love being worked.”

And to cap off his message to the haters, Rosenberg dropped this:

“You guys getting mad and thinking I'm hating on AJ because he says it’s done... I don’t know what you want. He wrestled, he lost, he’s retiring. Get a life.”

Rosenberg also tweeted out the video with the caption:

“I said what I said on the post show! How do you miserable people always find something to be mad about! Shout out to the great AJ Styles. It was an honor to have a front row seat for a long time to watch one of the best to ever do it!”

Styles lost to Gunther in a career-ending match at Royal Rumble: Riyadh, but whether that loss marks the true end—or just the beginning of a post-WWE chapter—remains unclear. His cryptic gesture of putting his gloves back on after nearly leaving them in the ring left fans with more questions than answers. But according to Rosenberg, “he is done.”
