Former AEW World Tag Team Champion Penta has finally revealed what drove him to sign with WWE earlier this year—and it wasn’t just about the money or titles. For Penta, it was about chasing specific moments that could only happen under WWE’s banner.
The former Lucha Brother made his WWE debut in January, with his brother and longtime tag team partner Rey Fenix joining him on SmackDown just a few months later. But Penta made it clear during his appearance on In The Kliq that a single powerful moment convinced him WWE was the right move.
Reflecting on his Royal Rumble experience, where he and Rey Mysterio entered as the first two participants, Penta said:
“It was one of the best experiences of my life, because of everything. Against Rey, we started the match, the city. This kind of stuff is the reason Penta is in WWE.”
That taste of a dream scenario left him hungry for more—especially on the grandest stage of them all. Penta made it clear that WrestleMania 42 is where he wants to carve out his legacy.
“I want at WrestleMania 42 to conquer a title or something bigger. Because always in my mind is going up, going up, going up, and I think Las Vegas, Nevada is the best place. Why not against Rey Mysterio?”
But if Rey Mysterio isn’t available, Penta has a backup target in mind—his son. Penta also spoke about possibly running it back with Dominik Mysterio, who retained the Intercontinental Championship against him at Backlash in May. A rematch on the WrestleMania stage could be exactly what Penta needs to solidify himself as a singles star.
Whether it’s a family showdown with Rey or revenge against Dominik, Penta clearly isn’t in WWE to coast—he wants moments that matter.
