Ohio Valley Wrestling is officially moving forward with a new TV project—but this time, Netflix isn’t involved.

During a recent event in Louisville, OVW figurehead Al Snow announced that the company is back in production on another season of Wrestlers or a very similar concept. While the first season aired on Netflix and introduced mainstream audiences to names like Hollyhood Haley J, Mahabali Shera, and Jessie Godderz, it looks like the streaming giant is no longer part of the picture.

Fightful Select reports that the show was not picked up for a second season by Netflix. Instead, OVW is now filming and producing the next installment entirely in-house and shopping it around to potential distributors.

Netflix had originally held the right of first refusal for OVW’s television broadcast rights, but that clause has now reportedly lapsed—clearing the way for the promotion to explore new platforms.

Al Snow didn’t offer many specifics during the announcement, but the message was clear: OVW isn’t done with TV just yet.

Meanwhile, Matt Jones, who played a major role in developing and pushing the original Wrestlers series to Netflix, has stepped back from many of his OVW responsibilities. With a shift in leadership and direction, it remains to be seen how the new show will differ from its Netflix predecessor.

Wrestlers helped shine a spotlight on OVW’s behind-the-scenes grind and emotional storylines, but with Netflix out of the picture, the future of the franchise depends on whether a new partner steps up.
