Original Plans Revealed for Monday’s Cruiserweight Title Match

As seen on Monday’s episode of RAW, Kalisto became the new Cruiserweight Champion by defeating Enzo Amore in a lumberjack match in the main event of the show. However, the original plan for the challenger was different.

According to PWInsider, Neville was chosen to challenge Enzo for the Cruiserweight Championship. However, those plans were nixed because of the fact that Neville lost his title shot opportunities when he put his hands on Enzo two weeks ago. In a way, WWE “put themselves into a corner” with that decision and instead had to go with Kalisto as the challenger.

Another reason was that yesterday was the birthday of Eddie Guerrero, which allowed WWE an angle where Kalisto would do a promo about Eddie and would tie his victory with Eddie Guerrero’s legacy.

Enzo and Kalisto were already going to face each other for the title at WWE TLC but now the roles of the challenger and the champion will be reversed heading into the event.
