MVP made his shocking debut in AEW on the September 25th episode of Dynamite and it was followed up with Shelton Benjamin joining MVP the following week. Bobby Lashley eventually signed with AEW during Fright Night Dynamite, and now the original plans for the Hurt Syndicate’s AEW debut have been revealed.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, MVP was asked if the plan for joining AEW involved him going first, followed by Shelton Benjamin, and then Bobby Lashley. He explained that the original plan was to convince Bobby to come with him to AEW after they left WWE.

MVP noted that Shelton Benjamin was already at home and not signed anywhere, so the idea was for all of them to stay unsigned, bring Shelton back, and reunite. MVP saw it as a chance for them to have one final run together. Eventually, Bobby Lashley agreed to the plan.

“Well, the plan originally was to get Bobby to join me. Bobby, let’s go man, let’s get out of here. Shelton’s already at home. All we gotta do is just not sign, get Shelton back and we can run this back. Our final act, we could do this. Bobby, finally, he relented, and he said, Alright.”

The Hurt Syndicate are clearly successful in AEW so far, as Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin are currently the AEW World Tag Team Champions and dominating the tag team division.

Their success so far proves that when veterans are given the right platform and creative freedom, they can still make a big difference in today’s wrestling world. With the AEW World Tag Team Titles in their hands and strong momentum, this newly revived group has a bright future ahead.
