AEW fans hoping for an Orange Cassidy return might be waiting longer than expected—but now there’s a key update.

Twitter user kim_rey dropped new info on July 25, 2025, claiming Cassidy did in fact undergo surgery shortly after his injury and has recently been seen backstage.

“Wild that there isn’t any new information available outside of the first report ‘possible torn pec.’ Well, I’ll be the OC insider. He had surgery shortly after the injury happened and he’s recently been backstage at shows.”

While AEW hasn’t officially confirmed the surgery, one source reportedly told Fightful Select they couldn’t dispute it, which only adds more credibility to the claim.

Cassidy’s injury dates back to April 2025, when he reportedly tore his pectoral muscle around the time of his match with Ricochet and Mike Bailey. Since then, he’s been completely off television.

Pectoral tears often sideline athletes for 6 to 9 months—and recovery can be even longer when surgery is involved. That means Cassidy might not return until late 2025, if not beyond.

Cassidy’s presence backstage does suggest some level of progress—but so far, there’s no sign he’s close to stepping back in the ring.

How do you want AEW to handle Orange Cassidy’s return when he’s finally cleared? Should he jump right back into the spotlight or start slow? Sound off in the comments.
