WWE already loaded the March 13 episode of SmackDown with several major matches and segments, but a new backstage report reveals how the show is expected to begin.

According to BodySlam.net, the broadcast from the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona is currently planned to open with a Drew McIntyre segment.

The report indicates McIntyre will kick off the show as WWE continues building toward WrestleMania 42. While the exact details of what the segment will involve have not been revealed, McIntyre remains deeply tied to the WWE Championship picture after losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes earlier this month.

With tensions still high surrounding that title change and Rhodes now preparing to defend the championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania, McIntyre opening SmackDown could signal that the Scottish Warrior still has unfinished business. Friday’s show already features a stacked lineup as WWE continues its final push toward WrestleMania.

The currently announced lineup includes:

  • Drew McIntyre segment (reportedly opening the show)
  • Nia Jax & Lash Legend vs Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
  • Solo Sikoa & Tama Tonga vs Uncle Howdy & Erick Rowan
  • Jade Cargill vs Michin
  • Miz TV with Jelly Roll as the special guest

With WrestleMania season heating up, starting SmackDown with McIntyre could immediately set the tone for the night.
