WWE star Omos is known for his towering presence in the ring, but behind the scenes, he’s been fighting a life-altering medical condition that almost ended everything before his wrestling career truly began.
In a revealing interview with Chris Van Vliet, Omos explained how his incredible size was never just about genetics. The 7’3” giant shared that he was already 6 feet tall by age 11 and shot up to 6’7” by 13. At the time, he assumed it was a normal growth spurt—until he went to college in the U.S.
A doctor noticed him at a basketball game and sent an urgent message to the university president:
“He goes, ‘Hey, my name is Dr. Vesely. I saw one of your players, Jordan Omogbehin. By the size of his hands and the size of his jaw and facial features, I think he might have acromegaly. You need to check him as soon as possible.’”
At first, Omos thought it was a joke. But the warning was real—and life-changing. Doctors conducted an MRI and delivered devastating news.
“They pull out the MRI and say, ‘You have a pituitary tumor. If you don’t take it out, either you’re going to go blind, or you’re going to have a heart attack.’ Because my body was producing so much growth hormone, it was enlarging my heart. They said, ‘We need to get this fixed now.’”
Omos revealed he has a one-of-a-kind combination of rare conditions.
“It’s kind of similar to what Andre the Giant had. It’s called acromegaly. Big Show has it as well. But mine is kind of unique because I have acromegaly, I also have gigantism, and I have partial Cushing’s disease. It was the first time in endocrine history that a patient had all three.”
His condition was so rare, doctors documented it in a medical journal. Even today, Omos has to take medication to manage the growth.
“I have to be on meds to stop me from growing, because I still grow. I don’t grow this way anymore [taller], but I still grow sideways. My body produces too many growth hormones. So I take medication to stop my body from using the growth hormones so I don’t get any bigger.”
Despite everything, he’s still standing—and thriving.
“I’m pain-free. I feel great. But if the doctor hadn’t caught it when he did—I would’ve been dead.”
He credits Dr. Vesely with saving his life:
“Shout out to Dr. Vesely. He pretty much saved my life.”
Omos didn’t just beat the odds—he stomped them into the mat. From a deadly diagnosis to becoming one of WWE’s most imposing forces, his story is a reminder that giants don’t just rise—they fight to stay standing. With his condition under control and his career still climbing, Omos is living proof that real-life battles make the biggest champions.
