Odyssey Jones had a solid debut on RAW last year, but allegations of domestic violence would lead to WWE firing him in the end. Almost a year since his firing, Jones has now made it clear he believes WWE mishandled the entire situation.
While speaking on the Generation of Wrestling podcast, Odyssey Jones believes WWE mishandled the situation surrounding the allegations against him and his release. He explained that when WWE first contacted him about the issue, he laughed because he knew the truth. According to him, the problem began with a woman who was upset that he was moving forward without her.
Jones said the story was wrongly framed as if his girlfriend had turned against him, but in reality, it was someone he had been seeing while traveling. This woman became upset that she wasn’t the main partner and didn’t get the access she thought she deserved. Jones admitted that his own mistakes played a role, saying he gave her a second chance she didn’t deserve. Instead of working with him, she chose to tear him down.
“Yes, WWE mishandled the situation. Even when I talked to them about it, when they called me and first told me, I laughed on the phone because I knew what happened. At the end of the day, it was a woman who was upset that I was making moves without her.
The narrative was that it was my girlfriend throwing me under the bus, but it wasn’t my girlfriend. It was one of the women I was seeing while traveling. She got upset she wasn’t ‘the one’ and upset she didn’t get the access she thought she deserved. Most of it is public, there were prior problems you can look up. This goes back to my ignorance, my naivety, and lust, because I gave her a second chance she didn’t deserve. Instead of working to be on the same level, she decided she was going to tear me down.”
“TKO was transitioning into being more corporate, and they were scared. To this day, almost a year later, I still don’t even know what was said. I don’t know what was even fully told. They just had me jumping through hoops to try to get information.
The young lady isn’t answering anything. She hasn’t shown up to any court cases. She’s not answering any summons. It was really just a hurt person trying to hurt me one more time, stab me in the back, and run away.”
Do you think WWE made the right call in releasing Odyssey Jones, or should they have waited for the legal process to play out? Sound off in the comments.
