Oba Femi’s shocking NXT Championship loss to Ricky Saints at No Mercy instantly sparked speculation about his future. Many fans assumed the sudden end to his dominant reign meant a main roster call-up was imminent. But a new update suggests otherwise.

In the October 3, 2025 edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Femi is still expected to be part of the NXT brand moving forward—at least according to those currently in the know.

“This is one of those things where the answer as far as everyone knows is no, in the sense Femi is still in the plans for NXT going forward.”

Meltzer also warned that WWE doesn’t always clue everyone in when it comes to surprise call-ups, leaving even key insiders in the dark.

“However, they do swerve people and tell almost nobody about call-ups a lot of the time so people who should know get blindsided. So it’s a no as far as just about anyone knows, but there is no such thing as a 100 percent no.”

Femi’s loss at No Mercy came in a hard-hitting main event against Ricky Saints, who reversed Oba’s second Fall From Grace attempt into a brutal DDT before following up with another to secure the victory. The win marked the beginning of what Saints called “The Absolute Era,” while fans immediately questioned if Femi’s dominant NXT run had come to a close for good.

With no confirmed injury and now no confirmed call-up either, Femi’s future in NXT remains intact—for now.
