Oba Femi is one of NXT’s fastest rising stars—but he doesn’t think a dream match with John Cena is in the cards.
With Cena on his farewell run, fans have been fantasy booking possible opponents for the future Hall of Famer. Names like CM Punk, AJ Styles, and even NXT talent such as Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans have been floated. But when it comes to Femi, he’s not holding his breath.
“I wish. I wish,” Femi said during an interview on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast. “But he’s in the twilight of his career. He’s winding down, I’m just getting started. I don’t know if our paths are going to cross in that fashion, I hope it does, but I don’t think so.”
Femi’s honest take has fans talking, especially as Cena continues making sporadic appearances on WWE TV. He was dropped with an RKO during Monday’s episode of RAW, fueling more speculation about a showdown with Randy Orton—possibly at Backlash.
While a Femi vs. Cena match might remain fantasy for now, it’s clear the young powerhouse has his eyes on the future. Whether or not Cena’s part of that journey is up to timing—and WWE creative.
