During the December 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, things escalated for Drew McIntyre’s suspension. Cody Rhodes and McIntyre have been going at it for a while, and this week’s show saw a big turning point.

Nick Aldis opened up the show by inviting Drew McIntyre to come on the blue brand to talk with him about things. Then Cody Rhodes showed up to speak with him for a bit, where Aldis said that McIntyre’s representation said that he doesn’t feel comfortable in this hostile work place. So, Aldis is going to speak with Drew McIntyre at his house sometime this week.

Cody Rhodes came out next to open the show with an in-ring promo. He was out to hype his upcoming match against NXT Champion Oba Femi at Saturday Night’s Main Event. At the same time, he had Drew McIntyre to worry about.

The American Nightmare threw some shade at Drew McIntyre to start things out. He said that there is a reason why Drew McIntyre isn’t grinding hard, or meeting with fans, and it’s the same reason why he’s not champion, “because he’s only half in.” Then Cody said that he would fire Drew if he was his boss. He can’t fire Drew, but “I can whip your ass, Drew McIntyre,” Cody said.

At that point, Oba Femi came out to make his presence known on SmackDown. He wanted to make it clear that Cody had him to worry about first on Saturday night. Oba quoted John Cena by saying that Cody’s time is up, because Femi’s time is now. Rhodes brought up how that quote from John Cena is notable, but he’s the man who beat Cena for his title.

Cody Rhodes went to leave, but Oba Femi stopped him. Then Femi raised his NXT Title above his head, as Rhodes did the same with the World Heavyweight Championship. We will have to see how their confrontation turns out on December 13 in Washington, DC.
