The talk of WWE launching NXT Europe is heating up again, but not everyone is convinced this long-teased project is actually happening anytime soon.

Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan recently spoke with talent and promoters across Europe to get the real story—and it turns out, a lot of people still aren’t buying into the hype just yet. Despite recent WWE UK tryouts and Triple H confirming “It is” happening when asked about NXT Europe, insiders are still skeptical.

According to Brennan, the talent who took part in the recent UK tryouts weren’t given much information beyond the standard company line that the brand is “still coming.” Some participants were signed, while others were told they’d get another look down the road. But no one was directly told the tryouts were linked to NXT Europe.

One former NXT UK star made it clear they aren’t getting their hopes up. “They will believe it when they see it,” the former talent said regarding NXT Europe’s launch.

Interestingly, promoters across Europe are split on what’s happening. Some believe the sudden movement could be WWE reacting to AEW’s growing European presence, especially with shows at Wembley Stadium and the upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Others aren’t too worried, even if WWE swoops in to sign top talent.

One promoter explained it bluntly. “It’s not the end of the world,” they said, pointing out that even after NXT UK and the pandemic, the scene eventually rebuilt itself and produced stars again.

From the wrestlers’ perspective, there’s plenty of excitement—at least if WWE gets it right this time. Many are hoping for better pay than the old NXT UK contracts, where talent were often encouraged to work second jobs. In France, some wrestlers have concerns about the local scene losing top stars, especially since that region is currently booming.

But even with fresh tryouts and Triple H vowing NXT Europe is still on the table, not everyone is sold that it’s launching this year. Multiple talents from the UK and France said they simply “do not believe that NXT Europe is coming in the near future.”

After nearly three years of promises, talk, and shutdowns, it’s fair to say most people in the European wrestling scene are in full “wait and see” mode.

At the end of the day, it feels like NXT Europe is the wrestling version of “I’ll believe it when I see it.” WWE keeps dropping hints, but the wrestlers and promoters on the ground aren’t exactly holding their breath. After years of false starts, it’s going to take more than a few tryouts and vague promises to convince people this thing is finally happening.

What’s your take on WWE’s NXT Europe project? Is this finally the real deal, or do you agree with the skeptics who say it’s never happening? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
