What should have been a celebratory moment for Pretty Boy Smooth quickly turned into another flashpoint in the ongoing rift between EC3 and the National Wrestling Alliance.

After Pretty Boy Smooth announced his new deal with the NWA by posting a signing photo with the caption, “now the real work begins,” EC3 dropped a comment that didn’t go unnoticed.

“That’s why you’ll succeed… everyone else lays off the gas pedal here,” EC3 wrote—interpreted by many as yet another shot at the company he once led as World Champion.

But now, NWA’s Bryan Idol has publicly clapped back. In a post to X/Twitter, Idol responded to EC3’s comment and criticized the timing and tone of the message, saying it detracted from Pretty Boy Smooth’s milestone.

“Can’t just congratulate a guy from his own camp, has to be petty and make it a cheap shot at the company and take the shine away from the moment. What a leader…”

Since leaving the promotion, EC3 has repeatedly taken digs at its management and creative direction with messages that imply the company fails to maintain momentum.

While EC3 hasn’t responded to Idol’s tweet, the friction adds to a story that has steadily simmered since EC3’s departure. Given Idol’s tone, the NWA seems intent on defending its roster and signings from outside criticism—even when it comes from a former world champion.

Do you think EC3’s comment was a fair critique or an unnecessary jab? And was Bryan Idol right to respond publicly? Share your take in the comments.
