Nixon Newell has been very vocal about her time in WWE following her release last year. Some people feel she’s actually burning bridges with her comments and now Newell has responded to such claims.
While speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Nixon Newell was asked if she would ever return to WWE. She explained that right now she’s focused on doing things her own way, proving people wrong, and living her career how she sees fit.
Newell hopes the door to WWE is still open someday, despite people online saying she’s burned bridges by speaking honestly. In her view, calling out questionable decisions like WWE releasing talents such as Dakota Kai and Shayna Baszler is just saying what everyone else is thinking.
“Now I can go do what I want to do, prove everyone wrong in my way, you know, and live my career how I see fit. And then hopefully one day, the door’s still open and we can go back. A lot of people online be like, ‘You’ve burned the bridges, you’re saying all this stuff about them.’
I’m like, ‘Well, no. I’m just saying what everyone’s thinking. When you release people like Dakota Kai and Shayna Baszler, like how do you release talent like that? That blows my mind.'”
Newell added that she does hope to return one day, but not out of spite. She wants it to be on her terms, at a time when WWE needs and wants her back. Her goal is to build up her own platform and become the star she knows she can be, so that WWE eventually comes to her and wants her to return. For her, if she ever goes back, it will be because she’s made herself someone they can’t ignore.
“Like I said, I hope the door’s still open. One day I’d like to go back, but I don’t want to go back—and this is purely out of, not spite, spite’s the wrong word. Purely out of… I’ll figure out the word, but like, I want to go back when they need me. Yeah. And when they want me. I want to be able to build up a platform for myself, build myself back into the star that Nixon was, so then they come crawling to me and be like, ‘Hey dude, what do you think? Do you want to come back? We think we could do this.’ That’s my goal right now. Like, if I ever go back to WWE, it’s to make them want me, make them need me.”
This comes after Nixon Newell already called out WWE for making empty promises, among other things. Regardless, we will have to wait and see if Newell will ever return to WWE as it’s clear it will only happen if the company wants her back.
