Nikki Bella says she hasn’t closed the door on reality television — but if she and Brie Garcia ever return, it won’t be in the drama-heavy style that dominates the genre today.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Nikki explained that while she once loved doing shows like Total Divas and Total Bellas for their positive impact, she feels reality TV has shifted away from empowering storytelling.
“I loved doing reality TV because I love the impact it had and the empowerment it had. And I hope one day the industry goes back to that. I feel like we’re kind of in this space where they don’t know what to do with docu-series, so they kind of see one lane of it. And I’m so ready to do it if we go back to what it was. I feel like people don’t always want drama. We have those and that is great—we have housewives, we have Mormon wives—and a lot of people like just being inspired. Love Islands.”
Nikki made it clear that she and Brie won’t follow trends just to fit in, stressing they’d only be interested in a project that mirrors the tone of their past work and respects their personal boundaries.
“So I’m like there’s space for what we do, but Bri and I aren’t going to fall into what everyone else is doing. So if they want to do what we did on Total Divas and Total Bellas, I think we’re game for that as long as there’s privacy for our kids. Of course, we’re very strict about that. We don’t mind giving a little, but we have a lot of boundaries around them. So that’s always been a thing as well.”
So while Nikki isn’t ruling out a return to TV, fans hoping for another Bella-style docu-series will have to wait for the right format — one that’s more about inspiration than on-screen fights. Until then, she and Brie are happy keeping family life away from the chaos.
