John Cena and Nikki Bella were once a power couple in WWE. The two had a relationship on reality television, with Total Bellas showcasing them as a couple. However, they went their separate ways. That won’t stop Nikki Bella’s fans from bringing up her former fiancé.

Nikki Garcia addressed the chants that brought up her past relationship with John Cena. These particular chants went down during the November 10 episode of WWE RAW.

Nikki Bella turned heel by attacking Stephanie Vaquer during the show. The event took place in Boston, which is Cena’s hometown, so that added to the dynamic. During the segment, fans chanted, “John Cena left you.” Nikki heard every bit of that.

The WWE Hall of Famer responded to the moment on the latest episode of the Nikki & Brie Show podcast with her twin sister, Brie Garcia.

“The hate’s so gross … even some of the chants that I got [on Raw],” Nikki said. Brie then replied to say, “I didn’t like” the chants she heard. Nikki Bella went on to expand on that a bit.

“Honestly, I think [the chants] got picked up more on TV. Or I was just too in my moment that I didn’t even know, I didn’t even hear it, to tell you the truth.”

Nikki Bella also addressed how fans have treated her online, and how it feels to now receive public support from others in the wrestling industry. “It’s really nice” that “people who have credibility” in wrestling, like WWE’s Big E, have been all for her return to the ring.

“Because I know for so long, people are like, ‘I don’t want the trolls to come at me online,’ so people just never really did [defend me].”

“It’s nice for these people with credibility that are speaking up. Because at the end of the day, they all know how much I love this business, how much passion I have for wrestling,” she continued. “They know the work that I put in. It’s not like I come on here and always say like, ‘Oh, when I had two days free, where I didn’t have my son, I flew to Orlando just to get in the ring for five hours to fly straight back.’ You know, I don’t talk about all that stuff all the time, but the people that know that, know. I truly love this business and I want to give it my all.”

Of course, Nikki Bella dated John Cena from 2012 until 2018, ending their engagement that year. Following the split, Nikki began dating Dancing With the Stars professional Artem Chigvintsev. The couple welcomed a son, Matteo, in 2020. Nikki and Artem were married in August 2022. They both filed for divorce in August 2024. The divorce was finalized in November 2024.

We will have to see what is next for Nikki Bella. A WWE Women’s World Title match certainly seems to be in the cards right now. Only time will tell if she gets that championship run.

As for John Cena, he is gearing up for his retirement from in-ring competition as he focuses on his career in Hollywood. Cena’s final match is scheduled for December 13, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., at the Capital One Arena. He will face the winner of the ongoing 16-man “Last Time Is Now Tournament.”
