Nikki Bella is once again defending her parenting choices—and this time, she’s furious over the backlash she received for kissing her five-year-old son, Mateo, on the lips.
Speaking on the Nikki and Brie Show on January 15, 2026, the WWE Hall of Famer didn’t hold back as she addressed the controversy surrounding a series of family photos from their trip to Legoland. After receiving what she described as disturbing comments, Bella revealed why she chose to turn off the comments on that particular post.
“Something’s been bothering me this past week, and that’s the Legoland photos,” she began. “It’s so weird. There are quite a few reasons I turned the comments off on that post, and it just goes to show why I don’t put my son on social media.”
Nikk was especially upset over fans who criticized her for kissing Matteo on the lips. She added that comments about her son’s appearance—like his hair—also crossed the line:
“Some comments were saying, ‘I can’t believe she kisses her son on the lips, he’s five!’ And I’m like, dude, I can’t believe you’re so bothered by it and annoyed by it. That’s crazy to me. I’m so over people telling me to get my son a haircut. He loves his long hair, and it’s beautiful.”
Bella explained that the photo being criticized captured a genuine moment of joy and love, and she finds it heartbreaking that people tried to twist something so innocent. She ended by making it clear she has no regrets about her parenting style and feels sorry for those who view expressions of love through a critical lens.
“In that photo on the cover photo, Mateo was seeing Lego Santa for the first time. He was so excited. Mateo grabbed me and gave me this big kiss. It was such a great moment, and people trying to ruin it just really upset me. I love my son so much, and I feel bad if your kid wants to kiss you on the lips and you tell them no, because I feel like that’s sad. I don’t know what that would do to them mentally.”
Nikki Bella’s response shows just how toxic online parenting opinions can be—and why she’s choosing to protect her son’s privacy going forward. With so many fans weighing in on such personal moments, it’s no wonder she’s drawing the line.
