Nikki Bella is back in WWE and riding high with a championship opportunity ahead of Survivor Series: WarGames—but something’s still missing.
During a recent appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, Nikki opened up about her upcoming match against Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer, a generational showdown that could earn Nikki her first title in over ten years. While she’s loving the new heel run, Nikki revealed that it hasn’t been the same without her twin sister by her side.
“You know, it’s actually been quite lonely. I think we both have had our different runs where we’ve been solo, but I think coming into this now as a mom, I feel like I have a very much different mindset. I wish she was there. I really do.”
For Nikki, this return isn’t just about winning—it’s about legacy. And that legacy is incomplete without Brie Bella standing next to her.
“I think, you know, as a pro athlete, you know when you’re coming to the end of what you can give, whether that’s on the field or in the ring. And you start to think of moments that you want to make before it’s all over. And I have built not only this legacy with Brie, but this empire with her in and outside of the ring. And so I—there’d be nothing more than I would love for her to join me. I think we all know the force the Bella Twins have together. And so it’s been quite a journey without her, but I hope I can finish it with her.”
The Bella Twins were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2020. Brie has hinted that she “definitely” has one more run left in her, but WWE’s willingness to bring her back may be complicated by her husband Bryan Danielson’s current role in AEW. This Saturday’s event is taking place in San Diego—the Bellas’ hometown. When asked if Brie might make a surprise appearance, Nikki didn’t rule it out:
“You never know. I always have her on speed dial.”
Whether or not Brie walks through the curtain, one thing is clear: Nikki Bella wants to finish her story the same way she started it—with her sister by her side.
