WWE’s purchase of AAA has opened the doors to a whole world of possibilities that will change the Mexican market for good. Now, WWE President Nick Khan has revealed their plan of expansion for AAA.

While speaking on the Varsity podcast, Nick Khan explained that WWE wants to grow beyond just North America by creating more international events and reaching new audiences. Instead of blending AAA into WWE, the company plans to keep AAA as its own separate brand with its own fans and shows.

As a test, WWE held two events in Los Angeles on June 7, 2025. The first was AAA’s “Worlds Collide” show at noon, followed later by WWE’s Money in the Bank event. Nearly half of the ticket buyers for the AAA show were Latino, showing strong interest from that community. The AAA event was streamed only on YouTube and attracted a lot of viewers.

Khan said the deal isn’t fully closed yet, but once everything is finalized, WWE plans to introduce AAA as a new product in the wrestling world. He explained that after their current Premium Live Event agreement with ESPN is loaded and up and running, they will officially launch AAA into the marketplace as a separate and unique brand.

“We bought a Mexican-style lucha libre wrestling company called AAA. We’re waiting for that deal to close, and then we’re going to have another product in the marketplace… Once this PLE deal is locked and loaded and up and running, then we go out in the marketplace with AAA.”

This comes as AAA prepares to open a WWE-aligned Performance Center in Mexico next year, signaling a new era for the promotion. Therefore, we’ll have to see just how much AAA will flourish thanks to WWE, as it’s clear they have big plans for the Mexican promotion.
