As John Cena prepares to bring his legendary in-ring career to a close, WWE President Nick Khan is making it clear: the retirement tour is not just smooth—it’s being executed with precision and mutual respect.
Speaking on the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, Khan offered new insight into the behind-the-scenes planning for Cena’s farewell run. According to Khan, Cena’s collaboration with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has been completely seamless.
“There’s not been a dispute with John Cena since he announced his retirement tour,” Khan stated, shutting down any rumors of backstage friction.
Khan went on to praise Cena for his selflessness in the ring, noting that he always puts the business first—even if that means taking a loss.
“There’s never a ‘I don’t like this outcome because it doesn’t make me look good.’ There’s a lot of ‘Hey, let’s do this in the storyline.’”
Khan also shared how deeply involved Cena is in the creative and merchandising side of his farewell. From city-specific branding to match logistics, Cena is actively helping shape every detail of the tour.
“He said, ‘Hey, get me a list of the cities where you think I’m going to appear,’” Khan recalled. He then shared a story about Cena’s Netflix premiere at the Intuit Dome, showing how Cena custom-tailors everything down to the color schemes.
“He said, ‘Okay, so no Lakers colors there. Let’s go with the Dodger colors.’ He’s a step ahead of it. Always.”
The conversation also touched on Cena’s role in endorsing the next generation. Before Cena faced Logan Paul at Clash in Paris, Khan asked for his thoughts on the social media star’s progression.
“I said, ‘Give me your feelings on Logan.’ And he said, ‘I’ll let you know after the match,’” Khan said. “Called me maybe an hour or two after the match, and he said he has it.”
With Cena calling many of the creative and business shots surrounding his retirement, Khan emphasized that WWE is fully aligned with making the sendoff a fitting tribute to one of the company’s most iconic figures.
