Nic Nemeth is fed up with the state of the TNA World Championship—and he’s pointing fingers directly at Trick Williams and the company that let it happen.
During an appearance on TMZ Inside The Ring, the TNA star didn’t hold back about how furious he is over an NXT talent holding the top title in TNA. Nemeth made it clear his frustration started when Joe Hendry, the former champion, dropped the ball by treating his reign like a worldwide vacation.
“I’ve been pissed off since Joe Hendry thought he would just make the rounds and go everywhere and have fun exhibitions as the TNA champion, and then lost the title to an NXT talent who doesn’t even belong in our locker room. So that part got me fired up.”
Trick Williams won the TNA World Title back in May, triggering the ongoing feud between NXT and TNA. While the title change electrified fans, it hasn’t sat well with talent inside TNA—especially Nemeth, who sees it as a slap in the face to those building the brand from the inside.
Nemeth went even further, warning that if Mike Santana fails to beat Trick Williams at Bound for Glory on October 12, he might put his tag team with brother Ryan Nemeth on hold and go after the title himself.
“If Santana can’t come through here, me and Ryan might have to take a little break as a tag team, and then I step in and take that title back, just for TNA, just so we have it. There’s something really disgusting about it… we really need to have a locker room leader who is the champion and full time at TNA. I’m very serious when I say how pissed off I am about this.”
Ryan Nemeth also chimed in, saying that if this is the direction things are going, maybe it’s time a TNA wrestler captured an NXT or WWE title in return.
“It might also be interesting if one of our guys wins an NXT title or WWE title. If you’re looking at the balance of the world, that’s bound to happen sometime soon.”
With Bound for Glory just around the corner, all eyes are on Trick Williams vs. Mike Santana. And based on Nemeth’s words, if Santana doesn’t walk out with the gold, things could escalate fast.
