Nia Jax is finally addressing the spot that left Jade Cargill busted open during their SmackDown triple threat match on September 26, 2025—and she admits it shook her more than she let on.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on February 3, 2026, Jax reflected on the chaotic scene that led to outrage online, where she drove Cargill face-first into the steel steps, splitting her open above the eye. While the match continued, fans were quick to point fingers at Jax. Now, she’s giving her side of the story.

“That was weird because I, um… I know I’m strong. But to me, I didn’t realize it happened. I didn’t realize she hit her head so hard on the steps.”

Jax said she didn’t realize how serious the injury was until after the match, when she saw just how badly Cargill had been hurt. Though she’s been part of intense spots before, even Jax admitted this one felt different.

“So when I saw it—because I didn’t see the full extent of it until later—I was shocked she was split open that badly. It was definitely a different moment for sure, but yeah, that was pretty scary.”

Cargill had previously talked about the moment during a January 16 conversation with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, revealing that Triple H was furious backstage when he saw her bloodied face on live TV. According to Cargill:

“Triple H was yelling, ‘Get that camera off her! Get it off! We have sponsors, we can’t show that! We have kids at home!’”

Despite the chaos, Cargill brushed it off as part of the job—and even called it memorable. “Still, I thought it was a badass scene.”
