More WWE involvement may be headed to AAA’s upcoming Rey De Reyes event — and a newly released promotional image appears to reveal another major name joining the card.
The event is scheduled to take place in Puebla, Mexico on March 14, and several WWE-affiliated talents have already been announced. Now a new poster shared by The Undertaker — who is working with AAA as an executive producer under his real name Mark Calaway — appears to confirm additional names for the show.
The official image includes a number of wrestlers expected to appear at Rey De Reyes, featuring Dominik Mysterio, El Hijo del Vikingo, El Grande Americano, The Original El Grande Americano, Santos Escobar, La Parka, Mr. Iguana, Flammer, Dragon Lee, Psycho Clown and Penta.
Several of those names had already been confirmed for the show, including Dominik Mysterio, Vikingo, both El Grande Americano characters, La Parka, Dragon Lee and Psycho Clown.
However, the poster strongly suggests that other wrestlers featured in the graphic could also be appearing on the card in some form. One of the most notable names included in the artwork is new WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta.
The event’s main event is already set, with Dominik Mysterio defending the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo in a high-stakes match with major consequences attached.
If Vikingo loses, he will no longer be allowed to challenge Mysterio for the title again. If Mysterio loses the championship, he must leave AAA entirely.
The Rey De Reyes tournament final is also set to feature both El Grande Americano characters along with La Parka. The fourth competitor will be determined after a qualifying match between Santos Escobar, Mr. Iguana, Psycho Clown and Abismo Negro. Psycho Clown will also be pulling double duty on the card. He and Pagano are scheduled to defend the AAA Tag Team Championship against WWE’s War Raiders.
Elsewhere, Santos Escobar has recently been involved in a rivalry with AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr., which appears to be building toward a title match between the two. The event will also feature a AAA Cruiserweight Championship match, with Laredo Kid defending against Dragon Lee, Jack Cartwheel and TJ Perkins.
With WWE stars continuing to appear on AAA programming and promotional materials, Rey De Reyes is shaping up to be one of the more unusual crossover shows in recent wrestling memory.
