Jacob Fatu’s time off WWE television last year was already known to be tied to dental surgery, but a new update is now revealing just how serious the situation really was behind the scenes.

During the Off the Top podcast, Rikishi and Joey TMD discussed Fatu’s recovery period and shared new insight into what kept him out of action for months. While fans knew he underwent dental work, the full extent of the procedure wasn’t widely known until now.

According to Joey TMD, Fatu had to have 11 teeth pulled during the procedure, which ended up being the main reason he remained sidelined for an extended stretch. He explained that the recovery process took time, but seeing Fatu return to action after going through that kind of physical setback made his comeback even more impressive.

Rikishi also took time to praise his nephew during the conversation, explaining that fans are now starting to see the same qualities that people at Knox Pro Wrestling had recognized in Fatu long before he reached WWE. He described Fatu as someone who connects with fans because of how real he is, noting that his story and personality make him stand out both inside and outside the ring.

With these new details now out, Fatu’s return to WWE action looks even more impressive considering the level of recovery he had to go through before stepping back into the ring.
