Former WWE United States Champion Andrade El Idolo walked out on The Crash’s 14th Anniversary Show in Tijuana, Mexico, and the wrestling world is trying to figure out what’s going on.
Andrade was promoted as one of the event’s top stars and participated in a pre-show meet-and-greet, signing autographs and posing for photos with fans. But when it came time to wrestle, he didn’t compete. Instead, he allegedly left the building without explanation.
Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer confirmed the walkout during Wrestling Observer Radio on F4WOnline.com, stating Andrade was visibly frustrated before he left.
“Andrade was on the show, probably the main attraction on the show. He was there signing autographs, and then he left… The only thing that we heard was that he was unhappy. His non-compete is only [in the] United States, so he can work in Tijuana [and] Mexico City.”
“Andrade, who was booked for The Crash’s XIV Aniversario show, left the event after fulfilling his meet-and-greet obligations. The reason for his abrupt departure was that he was unhappy with something at the show.”
But Andrade wasn’t about to let that version of the story ride. He took to Twitter/X to push back on Meltzer’s claim—and did it with humor.
“I went to that Chinese place called HK!”
For those in the know, that’s a joking reference to Hong Kong Gentlemen’s Club, a well-known strip club in Tijuana. Locals often joke about going there “for the food,” and Andrade’s post was clearly aimed at downplaying the situation and dismissing the drama.
So while reports say he was unhappy, Andrade says otherwise—and made it known he wasn’t bothered by the rumors. His legal status, however, is still a mess. Andrade is said to be under a one-year non-compete clause in the United States after being reportedly fired “with cause” by WWE back in September for multiple wellness policy violations. That clause didn’t stop him from briefly returning to AEW on the October 1 episode of Dynamite, but WWE allegedly hit AEW with a legal notice, and he hasn’t been seen on their programming since. AEW even reportedly instructed commentary not to mention him.
Now, after this The Crash situation, fans are wondering what Andrade’s next real move is—and whether we’ll see him in action again anytime soon.
