Netflix is stepping into the wrestling ring once again—but this time, it’s scripted.
Deadline reports that the streaming giant is developing a new drama series titled Tuesday Night Titans, a nod to the classic 1980s WWF talk show hosted by Vince McMahon. The twist? This isn’t just another nostalgia grab. It’s a fresh and gritty take on life behind the curtain of the pro wrestling industry—and the people clawing their way through it.
The series is being developed by Crazy Rich Asians and Wicked director Jon M. Chu, alongside former WWE writer Michael Notarile. The show will follow a female writer who reunites with her estranged childhood best friend—a “jobber” grinding on the indie scene—as they both chase their dreams inside a powerhouse wrestling company they grew up idolizing. It promises to dive deep into the tension between performance and reality, both in the ring and in their personal lives.
“The lines between kayfabe and reality become blurred,” the report states, hinting at the emotional and professional chaos ahead for the two central characters.
This isn’t Notarile’s first run with the squared circle. He was a part of WWE’s main roster creative team from 2013 to 2015 and played a major role in creating The New Day. That background alone has fans curious about how authentic the wrestling world will be portrayed.
The title Tuesday Night Titans might sound familiar to old-school fans. It’s a clear homage to the 1980s WWF talk show of the same name, which aired on the USA Network and helped launch Vince McMahon’s larger-than-life persona into pop culture history.
Netflix is already the exclusive home of WWE Monday Night RAW in the U.S., so this series marks yet another major step in the company’s investment in wrestling content—but with a dramatic flair.
Whether this turns into the next GLOW or takes a darker dive into the real pain behind the pop, Tuesday Night Titans is shaping up to be a title to watch.
