A new documentary focused on wrestling icon Hulk Hogan is officially in the works at Netflix, and it’s coming with rare, intimate footage filmed just before his passing.

Netflix’s Vice President of Sports, Gabe Spitzer, broke the news while speaking to The Varsity‘s John Ourand about the platform’s sports documentary lineup. During the conversation, Spitzer casually dropped the bombshell:

“Hulk Hogan, we had been filming with Hogan for 20 hours around the time of when he passed. We think that can be a good one.”

Hogan passed away in July 2025, and this upcoming project is expected to feature never-before-seen footage captured in the final months of his life. Spitzer noted that Netflix is becoming more selective with its documentary projects amid the surge in follow-doc content, but Hogan’s story made the cut—alongside other high-profile names like Mike Tyson and Deion Sanders.

“We have reached sort of a tipping point in the ‘follow doc genre,’ as we call it, where maybe there are too many of them, so we have to be a bit pickier in terms of the ones we’re doing… Outside of that, there are incredible other docs coming. Hulk Hogan, Mike Tyson, Deion Sanders. There are plenty of good ones still out there.”

This Hogan documentary will join Netflix’s growing collection of wrestling-related content. The streamer is already the exclusive U.S. home for WWE Raw starting in 2025, and is currently hosting the Vince McMahon docuseries, which dives deep into the rise and chaos behind WWE’s most controversial figure.

No release date has been set yet, but the mention of 20 hours of footage filmed with Hogan shortly before his passing hints at a deeply personal portrait of the man behind the mustache.
