Necro Butcher says he just landed one of the most unexpected deals of his career. The longtime deathmatch wrestler claims he has signed a basic WWE Legends deal even though he never actually wrestled for WWE.

Necro announced the news on Facebook and said the timing caught him completely off guard. According to him, the offer came just one day after he walked away from his regular job.

“I have signed a basic legends deal with the WWE. The offer actually came in the day after I walked out of my job. The timing was ridiculous.”

He also said the agreement could open the door for several WWE-related projects and revealed that some of those possibilities have already been discussed.

“Now, the door is open for various projects, which have already been discussed. But I’m taking things slow.”

The most unusual part of the situation is that Necro never had a WWE run. He addressed that directly while reflecting on what the deal says about the career he built almost entirely outside the company.

“What does this say about my career ? A man who never worked there. But he worked hard everywhere he went. And still will.”

Necro also made it clear that signing the deal does not mean he is walking away from the independent dates he already has scheduled.

“I will NOT miss my scheduled shows and most definitely will NOT be making any apology videos or speeches. I’ve worked hard, both for myself and for my fans. Nothing was more important to me than credibility and believability.”

He closed by saying he hopes this creates opportunities for other wrestlers who built careers without ever getting the traditional WWE call.

“I hope this leads to more opportunities for guys who never got that call to the big time. This is OUR reward. Let’s enjoy this together.”

Necro Butcher, real name Dylan Summers, has been wrestling since 1998 and became one of the most recognizable names in the American deathmatch scene. He built his reputation through promotions including IWA Mid-South, Combat Zone Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Big Japan Pro Wrestling.

His breakout run included winning IWA Mid-South’s King of the Deathmatch tournament in 2002, while his ultra-violent style later made him a fixture in CZW. He also had memorable wars with names such as Samoa Joe, Low Ki, Chris Hero, Eddie Kingston and B.J. Whitmer.

Necro also crossed into mainstream entertainment through Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 movie The Wrestler, where he appeared opposite Mickey Rourke in one of the film’s most brutal wrestling sequences.

He spent time in Ring of Honor beginning in 2006, first as part of the CZW invasion and later as a member of The Age of the Fall alongside Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black. He was also inducted into the CZW Hall of Fame in 2020.

If Necro’s announcement is accurate, this would be a very unusual WWE Legends signing. He never had a run in the company, but he built a reputation strong enough on the independent scene that WWE apparently sees value in working with him decades later.
