Natalya is definitely loved by a lot of her peers and fans alike, but there are also many who actually hate her. She was recently named in a list featuring wrestlers who got attacked the most on social media and now Natalya has reacted to the list.

While speaking to the Toronto Sun, Natalya talked about how she recently saw a list online of wrestlers and other talent who get harassed the most. She was tagged in tons of posts about it and found out she was number 15 on the list, along with Nikki Bella. She thought it was kind of funny and said it made her realize that people were definitely talking about her.

Even if people were saying mean or negative things, she knew that comes with being famous. Natalya says there will always be someone who doesn’t like you, is jealous, or just doesn’t agree with what you do. Over time, she’s learned that whether people say good or bad things, at least they’re talking about her. It means they care enough to spend time thinking and typing about her.

“You know, it’s funny because there was this thing that popped up—I was tagged in a hundred posts about wrestlers or talent who are getting harassed online. I was in the bottom 15; I was number 15, along with Nikki Bella, for people being harassed online. And it’s funny because I was like, damn, people are talking about me, you know what I mean?

Even if they’re saying negative things or they’re saying things that are basically harassment—I get it. I think all of us who are in the public eye are subject to being harassed. There’s always going to be somebody who doesn’t like you, or somebody who’s jealous of you, or unhappy with you, or just doesn’t agree with what you’re doing. But what I’ve learned over the years is that whether it’s good or bad, people are talking about us. And that means they’re engaged.”

Natalya said this actually works well for her wrestling character, Nattie, because that character doesn’t care what people think. Nattie likes to get people talking and stir things up, so she thought it was pretty cool.

Natalya also felt proud to be on the list with some big names and liked turning something negative into something positive. She mentioned that she doesn’t feel like she gets as much hate online as some others do, maybe because she’s learned how to ignore it or rise above it.

“They took their time to get on their keyboard and think about me. So I was like, man, this could really play into the Nattie character, because the Nattie character doesn’t give a f***. The Nattie character likes to be polarizing. She wants the confrontation. So I was like, ‘This is kind of cool.’

I also felt like I was in pretty good company. The fact that I was on that list with some big names—I thought, ‘This is cool.’ I think it’s always fascinating to take a negative and spin it into a positive.

But it’s funny because even online, I don’t feel like I get as much hate as some of the other people do. You know what I mean? Maybe I’ve just become an expert at silencing the noise or staying above it.”

In the end, the Queen of Harts said it doesn’t matter if people are saying good things or bad things, or something in between; what matters is that they’re still talking about her and keeping her name out there.

If they’re thinking about her, they’re watching her, and that’s what’s important. Natalya believes people will keep watching her character and end up loving her. And if they don’t, she doesn’t care since they can go “f*** themselves.”

“Sometimes, it’s like—whether they’re saying good things, bad things, or somewhere in between—they’re at least talking about me and keeping my name in the game. And if they’re thinking about me, they’re watching. That’s all that matters.

So they’ll be watching this Nattie character, and I think they’re going to fall in love with her. And if they don’t, they can go f*** themselves.”

No matter what, Natalya is more than comfortable in her own skin and she couldn’t care less what her haters have to say. That’s why fans continue to love her and that’s not going to change anytime soon.

Do you agree with Natalya’s perspective on turning online hate into fuel for her character? Why do you think so many wrestling stars face harsh criticism on social media? Sound off in the comments.
